How to Make Homemade Pasta: A Step-by-Step Guide
Share
A delicious way to add flair to any dinner is with homemade pasta. It tastes and feels significantly better than store-bought versions when made fresh using basic ingredients. This tutorial will show you how to make the ideal pasta from scratch, regardless of your level of cooking experience. Let's begin!
Ingredients:
2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
3 large eggs (room temperature)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for added elasticity)
Tools Required:
Big basin for mixing
Whisk or fork
Pasta maker or rolling pin
Pasta cutter or sharp knife
Clean the board or work surface.
A kitchen scale is optional but necessary for accurate measures.
Plastic wrap or a damp cloth
Time Needed:
15 minutes for preparation
30 minutes of rest
30 minutes for rolling and cutting
One hour and fifteen minutes in total
Directions:
Get the dough ready:
Make a well in the middle of the flour mound that you have created on a clean work surface or in a large bowl.
Add the olive oil and salt after cracking the eggs into the well.
Beat the eggs gently with a fork, adding the flour a little at a time from the sides.
Start using your hands to knead the dough once it's too thick to stir.
Knead the dough:
For 8 to 10 minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth. Add a little flour if the dough seems sticky, and a few drops of water if it's too dry.
Roll the dough into a ball and cover with a moist towel or plastic wrap. Give it half an hour to relax.
Roll Out the Dough:
To make handling the dough easier, divide it into 2-4 sections after it has rested.
Using a pasta machine or rolling pin, flatten each component flat, working your way down from the widest setting to the thinner ones.
Cut the Pasta:
Cut the dough into the shapes of lasagna sheets, fettuccine, or tagliatelle once it is sufficiently thin (approximately 1-2 mm).
To keep it from sticking, dust with flour.
Bring a big saucepan of salted water to a boil in order to cook the pasta.
Cook until the pasta is al dente, 2 to 3 minutes. Dried pasta takes a lot longer to cook than fresh pasta.
Serve right away with your preferred sauce after draining.
